Incubus

The dark child Winter opened its red eyes
Glwoing in the back of the barn, with the stale odors of the earth
Drifting in the air around it, and
Stretched upon its youthful limbs,
Skin taught, eyes seeking out for someone to hold
In the darkness of the night, and with
A smile of jagged, pointing teeth its red tongue
Flashed out, sliding across its red lips, then
Standing upon its new legs, it breaks for the barn door
At a run, smashing through, feeling splinter after splinter tear
Through its flesh, drawing blood, dripping on the white snow,
Staining the earth, its skin screeching against the chill
Of the wind, moving for the house with the light on,
Watching as a figure drifts across the path of the light
Every now and again,
It shrieks as it runs, feet pounding against the snow,
Driving the splinters in farther, deeper,
And as it looks overhead there is no moon,
The mad goddess Luna peers out not from the watchtower
As it streaks across the frozen earth beneath,
Wailing from the pain, drawing strength from it,
And it does not feel the cut of glass against its flesh
As it leaps through the closed window of the house with the light on,
The world becoming an explosion of glass and blood and skin,
And landing on the floor in a heap, it feels the false warmth
In the house go darting out the window through which it just came,
And as it lies there mewling in its agony, its eyes fall
Upon the figure, The Lamb,
And behold the wolf drowns itself in the slaughter,
Moving quicker than the eye could follow it drags the lamb
To the floor,
And devours.
The apple, bitten, falls from a naked hand,
Falls to the ground, watches as the serpent curls round it again,
And the dark-child Winter is reborn.

fever call

breaking thru like dusty knives
breaking thru....

            BREAK THROUGH!

spreading open the sunlight
      sigh
sigh

        enter here
        dissasemble the air

swift shadows of luminecence
        cross split horizon
screaming with particle envy
leaving me standing
     on shaky ground

and as the highways sew the earth
     together again
my own shadow slips away
     quietly
to find its own way home

Our Day In The Sun

I know it sounds crazy,
I know it might be hard to take.
But when I kissed you, baby,
I knew my life had been a big mistake.
Been chasing a big fortune,
Now I know it would only hurt my soul.
I'd been acting like a statue,
And one kiss from you, it dared me to grow.

I lay down beside you,
We were talking, we had such fun.
I knew this wasn't to be,
Our only day in the sun.
I slowly caressed you,
Ran my fingers through your golden hair.
Started to undress you,
You would laugh when I gave you that stare.

We were all on our own,
There was nobody to pass on by.
I could never hurt you,
But, baby, you could make me cry.
As we walked through the field,
Trying hard not to watch the sky.
I knew that I had to leave,
But, darling, I knew that it would never be goodbye.

You walked back on your own,
I could see a twinkle in your eye.
Right then I knew I loved you,
I really wished that i could fly.
I could never forget it,
Flat Coca-Cola and toast at one.
I never knew it then,
But that was our best day in the sun.

Ghost House

You took me to the ghost house,
To see a ghost or three.
You took me to the ghost house,
Were you trying to scare me?
You took me up to the ghost house,
Along a bumpy track.
You took me up to the ghost house,
Just so we could walk back.
You told me about the ghost house,
And how you once saw a ghost.
You told me about the ghost house,
Though you're not one to boast.
You took me to the ghost house,
On a Tuesday afternoon, mid.
You took me to the ghost house,
I'm very glad you did.

Records spin on turn tables
Scratches of music
Loud obnoxious obsenities
Screams of freedom
Screams of lies undiscovered but unwilling to go away
We see it everyday...
Outside the land sits quietly upon the sea
And we, we sit violently upon the land
Just coz we can
Jumping and jumping, pounding our fists against the pavement
We can't break it...but we try
They wonder why...we look so hard
We squint at the brightness of democracy and hold our hands up to
catch a piece of something promised
Why we believe..........It's TRUTH overthere
In rhapsodies chair, dismanteled and burnt on the fire of America
After the smoldering carcoal disappeared and we had
  nothing left to fear
            But FEAR.
