Mercy

Rudely Awakened by a Loud Trumpet's Thunder
Quite Deafening to Hear by Ear
I Peeked out My Window and Wondered
Woah, Death Angels Did Appear
Now, My Heart Sunketh Low into My Stomach
Beating Faster than It's Ever Been
For I Knew What Day Hath Cometh
God's Day of Reckoning
If this Day You Still Knoweth Not
Then Hell Might Be Where You're Headed
It's Too Late to Figure the Plot
Cause this Day Be Armageddon
For Me, Tears of Fear Flowin off My Face
Crying, Lord How Very Wrong I've Been
I Was Never One to Keep a Promise
Yet, this One I Do Intend
Jesus, Grant Me Just Your Solemn Grace
And I Will Never Again Commit Sin
Forgive All My Mistakes, I Pray
Father, Spare Me Today's End
In an Instant, I Awoke from Slumber
Saying, Yes! This Had All Been a Dream
However, Beneath My Pillow I Felt under
A Sealed Letter to Me it Seemed
It Read, Keep Thy Promise unto Me My Son
Blessed Shall All Your Days Be
For the Day Judgement Come, Knoweth None
Next Time No Clemency

Rearview Mirror

Because of its place,
Those who have a fine rear
Find it's not as easy as a face
To look at in the mirror.

But if you take a looking glass
And hold it over your shoulder,
Then you can admire at last
The beauty in the behind of the beholder.

Marriage, Divorce or Whatever

You promised to love forever
But that was not the course.
So now it is decided
The two of you will divorce.

There were things you didn't do
There were things you didn't say.
Now the two of you
Will go your separate way.

Your love was not strong enough
To overcome what you are.
So now you must decide
Who gets the house, who gets the car.

Your love was not strong enough
To overcome what you are not.
So now you divide
The plates, pans and pots.

Will either of you be so daring
As to try at marriage again?
Maybe when you have forgotten enough
You may gain the strength to begin.

But marriage is for many
Like trying to fly a kite.
On the first try
Some will get it right.

But others run into the wind
And it nosedives to the ground.
If it is not smashed to pieces
They may try another round.

And with the right adjustments,
And by running very fast,
They may achieve a flight
Of grace and beauty that lasts.

But some attain a flight
Wrought with misery,
As their airborne kite
Becomes entangled in a tree.

Imprisoned by the branches,
It remains forevermore
Never to crash,
But never to soar.

Compete To Eat

Life is a matter
Of take and give.
Something must die
So that something might live.

Chicken and cow
Are no longer alive.
They died
So that we might survive.

Wheat and corn,
Turnip and sugar cane,
Sacrifices in
The living game.

We sow and grow,
Slaughter and devour,
To live another minute--
Another hour.

Until we die
And become a grand feast
For every manner
Of wee beast.

So what life is all about,
I have grown to discover,
Is a continuous bout
Of feeding on each other.

So pass the potatoes
Pass the ham.
I eat
Therefore I am.

Caffeine soliloquy
neurosis with a side of jam

dirty spoons
half eaten croissants
felonious doses of cappuccino
tossed with a high priced education

self indulgent proselytizing

my Sunday hell
save yourselves
save the world
