Eternal Knight - July 16, 1997

Warrior of light, guardian to guide,
Eternal knight, faithful true heart,
Gentle and strong, strong too in pride.
(Sometimes too strong)
Deeper than lover, stronger than friend,
Mirror-twin to my soul...
Walking together through uncounted lives,
One guards and one guides...
And each learns to bend,
Walking together through spirals of time.

Knight's Dream - July 8, 1997

A knight, benighted within a dark wood,
Prayed heaven's protection, then fell asleep
Only to waken to a gentle light.
There saw he fair maid with somber mien.

He rose and spoke soft words of courtesy,
But she walked on, silent and sad.
He followed fast behind, into the wood,
Not thinking of danger, or sorrow, or rue.

To fair woodland hall they came at last
And entered to feast, he at her side.
Few words... glances and smiles said much,
And her fair face filled all of his thought.

He woke once again on a cold, grassy couch,
Chilled, heartsick -- alone -- no sign of path
To lead him again to a fair woodland hall...
Fair hall, fair feast, fair song, fair maid!

He returned to castle, but often his heart
Wandered the woodland... but he did not
Until his ending, when he entered the wood
And followed soft footfalls to fair woodland hall!

Knight's Night - July 2, 1997

Night slides over... around... through
As you lie gazing skyward, sightless,
Consciousness fled far away,
Away from pain... away from life.

Come back to day,
Although still partly night...
Open new eyes and gaze
Once more upon the new-ris'n sun.

Come back from night...

Knight of Mists and Shadow - September 22, 1998

True-hearted knight of darkling sorrows,
Courage and honor illumine your eyes.
Hidden within your words and laughter,
True faith and gentleness live in your soul.

Honor has given the courage it takes
To walk the dark road for some other's sake.
Gentleness flows through hands of strength,
And courtesy's unmasked in word and face.

Aye, fade into shadow, to return like the mist
That covers the grave in the morning...
But pour into hands of caring and trust
The sorrows dark and alive in your heart,
And the soul-deadening pain.
