Called simply 'Nikita' in Canada, (where I am) this is a CTV production, I
believe USA network in the States.
I never watched this when it first came on, but like so many other television shows I am now addicted to, I started
halfway through the first season. I must admit, at first it struck me as a dull terrorist show, but that's before
you actually get into it.
I'm not EXACTLY sure of the particulars, as I didn't start from the beginning, but Nikita (Aussie Peta Wilson)
was apparantly arrested for killing a cop, but then was secretly taken into Section One, some sort of Top Secret
government agency, where she is briefed and debriefed and led along by Micheal (Roy Dupuis--You may remember him
from the French tv show 'Scoop' or perhaps the Dionne Quints Story). Now I have to say right here, that I knew
the writers were cooking up a love story between these two the minute I saw them together. But they're still not
together yet, so I suppose it's not that flaky.
Other in Section include Operations, head of the...operations, (played by Eugene Robert Glazer) Madeline, second
in command (Alberta Something-or-other) and Birkoff (Matthew Fergueson--how do you spell fergeuson?) who is the
computer genius. A very cute computer genius. Yep. Definately a good reason to start watching
Oh! I almost forgot. What do I think of the show? Well, the plots are really good, you end up liking the characters,
which are all played really well, you genuinely want to see them get what they deserve. My advice: It's a good
show. I recommend it. (Yay birkoff!)
