If
ice is what you want, then ice is what you'll get. This tutorial will help
you to create text which appears to be made of ice. It may not be necessary
but you can use the "Pool Shadow" filter for a better effect. You can get
it from Filter Factory Gallery A.
In this tutorial, you will use the: - text tool, - retouch tool, - magic wand tool, - chisel effect and - the "Pool Shadow" filter. |
Step
1:
Create a new file with white as your background and colour depth set to 16 million colours. Using any colour you want, enter come text with the antialias option checked. Please note that the final colour will be darker so select a lighter colour than the one you want. Make sure you leave some room below the text so that you can add the icicles. |

Now unselect the text by clicking "select - none". Now select the "retouch" tool which looks like a pointing hand. Enter in the following options: - Retouch Mode: smudge - Paper Texture: none - Shape: vertical - Size: 10 - Opacity: 100 - Density: 100 - Hardness: 0 - Step: 1 Now starting from the base of the text, click and drag so you can create little icicles. |

Invert the selection. Now it's time to use the "Pool Shadow" filter. Open the filter and enter whatever settings you like. For the example below, I used the first 6 settings set to 255. Just experiment and see what kind of results you can get. |
