I ran a 5K race on Sunday, September 25. Good running weather, about 68* and cloudy. The race was at the local community college, around the different entrances and parking lots with a brief span on the road. I finished in 26:58 which is anew 5K PR for me.
The first mile was all downhill. I finished this in a speedy 7:11. The next mile had some uphill. After 2 miles, my time was 15:59. So the last 1.1 miles were almost all uphill. I took a short walk break on the steepest hill. My time for the last 1.1 miles was 9:59. DH met me at the end and encouraged me to finish under 27. Yea!!! (He finished at 23:43.) So my overall pace was 8:41 per mile.
I was 33rd overall out of 58 people. 9/20 for women and 3/3 in my age group. Didn't win any shiny things or any door prizes. But it was a good race, that I'd like to do again next year. My next scheduled race is another 5K on Oct 16. (There's a 5 mile race 10/9 that I'm still considering entering. I did it last year, but did miserably because of all the hills and a lack of training. So I kinda want to improve my time from last year, but I don't want to do all those hills!)
