Brigetta's Pitcher
copyright, Richard Weers
Media: 24" x 18" oil painting
As a "classical realistic" painter I feel how
I paint my subject matter is more important than what I paint. I like to choose an
abstract idea or design for a painting and let the idea create its own subject. However
the pitcher which is the prominent object in this painting was borrowed from a German
friend of our family named Brigetta.
I began my art career in 1974 after receiving my BA
degree and two years of post graduate study in Art Education. In 1976 I studied at the Art
Students League in NYC followed by courses at the Scottsdale Artists School and the Fechin
Institute, Taos, New Mexico. My paintings can be found in private and corporate
collections throughout the world including China, Japan, Saudi Arabia and most notably in
the colleciton of Prince Charles of Wales.

Steve Greco attended the Butera School of
art and received his Bachelors of Arts in 1991. Previous to this, his background consisted
of marine biology, creative writing and journalism while attending Middlesex Community
College in Massachusetts. Steve is associated with the Cousteau Society, the African
Wildlife Foundation and Greenpeace. He has rallied against cruel animal practices, such as
the leg hold trap, and continues to make his voice heard in any political situation
involving animals. He has won many awards for his oustanding artistic talent and continues
to do so in his home in historic Concord, Massachusetts. He currently is caring for horses
while he continues his painting and attends art shows whenever possible. His hope is to
one day make a living with his art by selling his work. His agent, Veronique
Tingley-Husser, is works very hard at making this true one day.
