Brigetta's Pitcher

copyright, Richard Weers

Media: 24" x 18" oil painting

As a "classical realistic" painter I feel how I paint my subject matter is more important than what I paint. I like to choose an abstract idea or design for a painting and let the idea create its own subject. However the pitcher which is the prominent object in this painting was borrowed from a German friend of our family named Brigetta.

I began my art career in 1974 after receiving my BA degree and two years of post graduate study in Art Education. In 1976 I studied at the Art Students League in NYC followed by courses at the Scottsdale Artists School and the Fechin Institute, Taos, New Mexico. My paintings can be found in private and corporate collections throughout the world including China, Japan, Saudi Arabia and most notably in the colleciton of Prince Charles of Wales.
