The Bioform project started in April 1998, in admiration of the works by Todd and Latham. Andrew Rawbottom brought those creatures to us humans with his Form application. Form was great and there was even a pov-output option, but had some serious drawbacks, e.g. the scale-routines didn't always what they were supposed to do ; the pov-output had faults, especially the torus-output, and the Pov-output became threatening hugh very quickly, ...
Since the fantastic PovrayTeam gave us functions etc. in the 3.0 incarnation the Bioform project could start.
The general idea was to make an include file with the routines while entering some values in a pov-file to become bio-creatures. Not only creatures ... we found out ... but also very wild and bizarre forms could be created by it depending on the predefined segments/worms you used.
But soon (there were so many ideas we wanted to make true) the pov-file become so big, with so many options to fill in, that we had to think of a better way to enter the values. Biowin saw the daylight end of August 1998 and is programmed in Delphi (sorry ... that's why it's so big).
At first biowin was used only for entering the values and the bioform.inc did the rest. Since the end of December 1998 everything is done within Biowin (except the raytracing of course).
For now Biowin is a graphical notepad (a toy : nothing more) for easy entering params and values to make a bioform with PovRay .
Thanks to Denis Sarazin for the Delphi source of his magnificent PovTexture creator. This was far more then only a starting point for Biowin.
Thanks to Chris Colefax. His modclock.inc file showed me the way in how doing the animation-routines.
Thanks to Nathan Kopp. His background.inc file showed me how to do the BackgroundPicture.
Thanks to John VanSickle for his matrix-concept and the Connect-macro.
Thanks to Ronald L. Parker for the Torspline macro.
Thanks to Andrew Cocker , his ideas about working with animations were just great.
These guys are real wizzards.
Thanks to Dennis Miller, Darren Fisher, Rick of Kitty5 , Mike Stone , Andrew Cocker , Nelson and Kiliaan for their valuable feedback.
That's all for now.
