Jesus Loves Me

Jordan Layne Jones

6/27/95- 2/22/99

"Jordan's Season"

As the flowers blossom with their infamous sweetness
bursting forth in bloom to fade in their completeness
We lay to rest a wee one surrounded by fragrance sublime
Returning him to earth, a short life outlasting time.

Seeds will fall as seasons past
But the pain and sorrow will linger and last
Unlike the turning of leaves and passing of morrow
Our hearts are heavy with bittersweet sorrow.

Perhaps our tears will wet the morning dew
bringing forth a blossom anew
And within those petals of the Lord's creation
will lie the source of our heartbreak's salvation

My sister, brother-in-law, daughter and four children lost
their home to a flash fire on 2/22/99. The path of this fire
not only took the life of my four year old nephew but
destroyed this family's entire life in nine minutes. The
combination of a thirty mile an hour wind and an old
double wide trailer created an inferno that left in its wake
the charred remains of a tiny little boy and a family with
literally the clothes on their backs..Even their car was destroyed..

My sister is a victim of a muscular disease and is an
invalid..My brother in law received 1st and 2nd degree burns
attempting to save his grandson. Of the three surviving
children, (ages 7 years, 5 years and 4 months..all boys)
the oldest boy is profoundly retarded/autistic...
The family had no insurance on the child for burial...
no insurance on the house or its contents..
There is thankfully insurance on the automobile.

Nine minutes and Jordan Layne Jones, born 6/27/95,is gone.
and with him, the entire surroundings he laughed in,
learned in, started to grow up in.
A simple surroundings, with simple people...
So I write...
because it has to take on a meaning.
It has to stand for something.
Jordan's death and the heartbreaking ruination
of this family must have a value.

The fire was probably from faulty wiring or a lighter
in the hands of a wondering child....There were no fire
extinguishers in the house...the smoke
alarms did not function. This is not a well-off
family....Sometimes even the cost of batteries can be
too much for some people...Sad but true...

Please...let Jordan's death say something tonight...
right now... Go now...check your smoke alarms....
buy fire extinguishers...pick up the lighters...
teach your children...
Let us remember how quickly a little
one can reach something that will harm them.
Watch...Beware....Guard your Hearts.

A relief fund has been established for this family.

in care of:

Hug them tonight....for Jordan.

Thank you...
