"Marilyn"
A hollow emptiness dwells within,
Hoping to hold and capture my friend.
A call in the night to say she was called Home,
My sweet loving friend past away all alone.
And yet when I listen a small smile does appear,
My heart fills with her voice, stopping the tears.
A sweet heavenly Angel lingers above
Telling me of our Father's love,
Of riches and glory held in His name
Tho' my life will be empty without her again.
Memories floating across my mind
Of special secrets and laughing times,
Of a wit that would make the lowest soar high,
Of her sharpened tongue and twinkling eye.
When times were unsure and arms were needed
My friend gave me both, her compassion seeded
To florish and grow in unending grace
Touching my soul, drying my face.
So much shared, so many things given
Such a delight in all of her livin'
Tho' the time seems too short
and He called her home
I know she is with me and I need not be alone.
I take her thoughts, her promises and prayers,
I take her love, her warmth, her cares,
And secret them within my heart
Holding her there, never to part.
To say farewell I can not bare
The love and comfort that we shared
Is etched in journals of memories sweet,
To have and hold, to cherish and keep.
So wait for me, my loving friend,
Build the castle to which He sends.
I will meet you when my tasks are done
And watch the setting of another sun
In Loving Memory of Marilyn
