Movies in the Afternoon
For all I can see is
your face
Through the feature
picture and what's comin' soon.
When your gal has
left you
Ain't nothin' worse
Than goin' to the
movies in the afternoon.
There's a smell of
disinfectant and the scent of cheap cologne
And beside my seat
a crushed-up Baby Ruth,
And a lady in a flowered
hat is sittin' all alone
And she's weepin'
for the faded dreams of youth.
And all I can see is
your face
Through the feature
picture and what's comin' soon.
When your gal has
left you
Ain't nothin' worse
Than goin' to the
movies in the afternoon.
The screen goes white,
the curtains close and like a ghost I rise,
For I know you won't
be there when I get home,
And I walk into the
sunlight and it burns and blinds my eyes,
And through the lonely
city streets I roam.
And all I could see
was your face
Through the feature
picture and what's comin' soon.
When your gal has
left you
Ain't nothin worse
Than goin' to the
movies in the afternoon.
