This
is the easiest way I know how of in creating a metallic gold text style. This tutorial will include the use of:
- the text tool, - the feathering function, - the hot wax coating function, - adjusting red/green/blue and - the add drop shadow function. Here is an example of the final image. |

Step
1:
Create a new image with white as your background colour set to 16 million colours. Enter some text using which is light grey in colour: - Red: 192 - Green: 192 - Blue: 192 Keep the text selected throughout the entire tutorial. Now click "selections - feather". Enter 3 into the number of pixels field. This should expand the selected area. |

2:
Now select white as your foreground colour and give the text a hot wax coating by selecting "image - other - hot wax coating". Your image should look like this. |

3:
Now you have to add some colour. In this example, I used the "colours - adjust - red/green/blue" function with these values: - Red: 100% - Green: 50% - Blue: 0% I did this twice to get a more realistic gold colour. |

4:
The last step is to add a drop shadow for a 3D effect. Click "image - add drop shadow" with the following options: - Colour: black - Opacity: 100 - Blur: 10 - Vertical Offset: 4 - Horizontal Offset: 4 This is the final image. |

Play around with the colours for different effects. This method can also be applied to shapes like hearts for example. Here is a beautiful image I drew and edited with this gold text method. |
