Evening Prayer
- “O send out your light and your truth;
 - let them lead me;
- let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling.” - Psalm 43:3
  - “I call upon you, O Lord;
 - come quickly to me;
- give ear to my voice when I call to you.
- Let my prayer be counted as incense before you,
- and the lifting up of my hands as an evening sacrifice.” - Psalm 141:1-2
    - Almighty and most merciful God, I have strayed from your ways like a lost sheep.
 - I have followed too much the desires of my own heart.
- I have offended against your
holy laws.
- I have left undone those things which I ought to have done,
- and yet I have
done those things which I ought not to have done.
- O Lord, have mercy on me.
- Spare
me as I confess my faults.
- Restore me in my penitence, according to your promises
declared in Christ Jesus my Lord.
- And grant, most merciful God, for his sake,
- that I
may live a godly, righteous, and holy life,
- going on to perfection in love
- to the glory
of your holy name. Amen.
           - Almighty God have mercy on me,
 - forgive me all my sins through my Lord Jesus
Christ,
- strengthen me in all goodness,
- and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep me
in eternal life. Amen.
   - Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name.
 - Thy kingdom come, thy will be
done, on earth as it is in heaven.
- Give us this day our daily bread.
- And forgive us our
trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
- And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil.
- For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and
the glory, forever. Amen.
     - Lord, open my lips. And my mouth shall proclaim your praise.
- PSALTER
- Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
   - as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be. Amen.
 - Alleluia.
- “El Shaddai, El Shaddai, El Elyon na Adonai;
  - age to age you’re still the same by the
power of the name.
- El Shaddai, El Shaddai, Erkahmka na Adonai,
- I will praise and
lift you high, El Shaddai.” - Michael Card/John Thompson, 1981
   - I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
 - creator of heaven and earth.
 - I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
 - who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,
- suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried;
- the third day he rose from the dead;
- he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father,
- and will come again to judge the living and the dead.
     - I believe in the Holy Spirit,
 - the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints,
- the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body,
- and the life everlasting. Amen.
   - Lord Jesus, stay with me, for evening is at hand and the day is past.
 - Be my
companion in the way, that I may know you as you are revealed
- in Scripture and in
the breaking of bread.
- Grant this for the sake of your love. Amen.
   - Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
 - Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
- where there is injury, pardon; where there is discord, union;
- where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
- where there is
sadness, joy.
- Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
- to be
understood as to understand;
- to be loved as to love.
- For it is in giving that I receive;
- it is in pardoning that I am pardoned;
- and it is in dying that I am born to eternal
life. Amen.
