Morning Prayer
- “The sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit;
 - a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.” - Psalm 51:17
 - “I will get up and go to my Father, and I will say to him,
 - ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you;
- I am no longer worthy to be called your son...’” - Luke 15:18-19
  - “Do not enter into judgment with your servant,
 - for no one living is righteous before you.” - Psalm 143:2
 - Most merciful God, I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word,
and deed,
 - by what I have done, and by what I have left undone.
- I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself.
- I am truly sorry and I humbly repent.
   - For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me
and forgive me;
 - that I may delight in your will, and walk in your ways,
- to the glory of your Name. Amen.
  - Almighty God have mercy on me,
 - forgive me all my sins through my Lord Jesus
Christ,
- strengthen me in all goodness,
- and by the power of the Holy Spirit
keep me in eternal life. Amen.
   - Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name,
 - thy kingdom come,
thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
- Give us this day our daily bread.
- And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
- And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil.
- For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
     - Lord, open my lips.
 - And my mouth shall proclaim your praise.
 - PSALTER
- Glory be to the Father,
  - and to the Son,
- and to the Holy Ghost,
- as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.
- World without end, Amen, Amen.
- Alleluia.
     - OLD TESTAMENT READING
- “Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
  - Early in the morning my song shall rise
to thee!
- Holy, holy, holy! Merciful and mighty,
- God in three persons, blessed Trinity!” - Reginald Heber, 1826
   - NEW TESTAMENT READING
- GOSPEL READING
- I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
   - creator of heaven and earth.
 - I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
 - who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,
- suffered under Pontius Pilate,was crucified, died, and was buried;
- the third day he rose from the dead;
- he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father,
- and will come again to judge the living and the dead.
     - I believe in the Holy Spirit,
 - the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints,
- the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body,
- and the life everlasting. Amen.
   - Lord God, almighty and everlasting Father,
 - you have brought me in safety
to this new day:
- Preserve me with your mighty power, that I may not fall into sin,
nor be overcome by adversity;
- and in all I do, direct me to the
fulfilling of your purpose;
- through Jesus Christ my Lord. Amen.
    - I bind unto myself today the strong name of the Trinity,
 - by invocation of the same, the Three in One, the One in Three.
- I bind this day to me forever by power of faith Christ's Incarnation,
- his baptism in the Jordan river, his death on the cross for my salvation;
- his bursting from the spiced tomb, his riding up the heavenly way,
- his coming at the day of doom I bind unto myself today.
     - I bind unto myself today the power of God to hold and lead,
 - his eye to watch, his might to stay, his ear to hearken to my needs,
- the wisdom of my God to teach, his hand to guide, his shield to ward,
- the Word of God to give me speech, his heavenly host to be my guard.
   - Christ be with me, Christ within me,
 - Christ behind me, Christ before me,
- Christ beside me, Christ to win me;
- Christ to comfort and restore me;
- Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
- Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
- Christ in hearts of all that love me,
- Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.
       - I bind unto myself the name, the strong name of the Trinity,
 - by invocation of the same, the Three in One, and One in Three,
- of whom all nature hath creation, eternal Father, Spirit, Word;
- praise to the God of my salvation, salvation is of Christ the Lord!
