American ... I am proud to be an American and proud to live this way. I am proud to stand for what I believe in today.


To be free is not by chance. It was earned and given to us by many women and many a man.

Many slept in watering holes and have stories that may never unfold. Had nothing to eat for days. Some trying to stay awake, forever it seemed, just to stay alive and hold on to a dream.

To be an American is something we treasure for we know that the women and men that gave up lives for us to have our freedom were special people. Most we will never know.

Far beyond you and me. They gave their lives for all. Don't you see. They missed out on loving things, like a wife or a husband to hold, or a child and all the happiness a grand child could unfold.

They left behind people like us.They left fathers, mothers, and lovers, sisters and brothers, and friends they could trust. Just to stand for what they believed, and to make it easier for you and me.

I am not proud they died for me. It actually saddens me that it had to be. I lost family like all the rest, and yes, our faith in God and our country was put to a test.

We stood tall and we do today, we won't let his death or any be in vain. Standing with our nation and trusting in God and believing in the women and men that are walking on foreign sod.

Giving them encouragement our love and our prayers and standing tall with them as they proudly take a stand.
Trusting in each other for that is the American plan.

Proud, yes, you will hear me say, for I strongly believe we were meant to be this way. Free to walk, free to run. Free to say what we like. Free to be who and what we want to be straight, gay, green yellow, black or white. We are all free and all Americans in God's eyes.

So, take a stand, be proud of who and what you are. It don't matter if you are near old glory or you stand afar. You are American you have a right to be free, whether you are just the folks next door or a movie star.

Freedom, it was earned it was a choice our country made to live free and not let anyone stand in our way. Take your stand. Take it today. Don't let anyone tell you it was taken away.

In foreign lands, on stranger's shores, our women and our men will fight for us once more. Give them strength, give them love. Give them hope, and all they dream of. For they have and will earn it all  you see. For they are willing to die for this country. For you, and for me.

As, I sadly bow my head in prayer, I am reminded again, the strain on the family when a loved one is over there. So I will ask God to watch over you too, but most of all ask him to protect the women and the men who stand tall,
PROUD AND TRUE.
