However, he's not the same John Gardner who wrote the re-vitalized Bond books in the '80s. *That* John Gardner wrote a couple of revisionist Holmes books called "The Return of Moriarty" and "The Revenge of Moriarty" which postulate that Holmes didn't kill Moriarty at Reichienbach Falls like Doyle said he did. The other John Gardner was a great literary fantasist who died in a motorcycle accident. To complicate matters further, both Gardner's are English. ......................
