| Captain Spunky - 02/01/99 Why Captain Spunky? Why not some ultra-cool, manly nick like: OCTAVIUS!, The Jeffinator, or 'The Violinist formerly known as Squishy'? Well it was way back, almost a year ago, when I was just a freshman at OU. At the time I was taking a course in logic, and I was not doing as well as I would've liked. Not even NEAR what I would've liked. So anyway, that opportunity came up where we could earn some extra credit by critiquing an art exhibition at a local gallery. However, because I really, desperately, truly wanted every extra point I could squeeze out of that assignment, I got to thinking. And an image came to mind of a format for it, that would both say what I thought of the exhibition (which I thought was pretty good) and give me a chance also write an incredibly stupid story at the same time. (It's been my experience that teachers can't get enough stupid stories.) So I had just watched an episode of The Tick, when a name for a superhero came to mind and it was Captain Spunky. I'm not exactly sure how I suddenly came up with this name, (and frankly, I'm a little bit too afraid to ask) but to me, it was just perfect for my purposes. After I turned it in, the teacher made it a habit to refer to ME as Captain Spunky in class! The name seemed to be popular with everybody, so I decided to keep it.
