Ace of Spades Mar 5, 2001

My initials are "AAS". However, when monogramed
(like on a sweater or towel) they spell "ASA".
I enjoy telling fortunes with a regular poker deck of playing cards. But, as to why I chose the overwhelmingly dark suit of spades, I do not know. --Interesting question...I am not at all gothic or anything like that. I'm just a good ole country girl. If anyone has input, let me know. :)

      Agent6453... MVP Forums 13 Apr 1999

Well, my nickname obviously isn't my real name. (g) I went through several nicknames (Netbeing, NiGHTS, and Mike10684 being a few of them) before finally settling upon this one, which I use for everything now. The 'Agent' part is just because I've always thought secret agents were cool (g), and the '6453' is my first name (Mike) as they would appear on a touch tone phone pad. And that's how I got my net-name!

      Aislin 05/06/00

I have been using the net to learn about wicca. I found a page on Celtic names one night and I found the name Aislin. I was drawn to it for it was quite pretty and for its meaning. It means dream, which sometimes I like to do for fun and also to escape reality, although I sometimes think life is all a dream! (good and bad dreams!) That is basically the story behind my nick name for the net. Thanks for the oppurtunity to share it!!!

      Aknor 07/07/00

It's from my brain; I made it up. I've never heard or read it anywhere. If it's anywhere else, it's total coincidence. I have no idea what it means.

        well let's see..

        (I) lived in Alaska and was a soccer mom...
seems too obvous...I also chose the name about 4 years ago during the last US presidential election. The term "soccer mom" was all the rage...
        I've always loved the nick...
It said everything there was to say about me without ever having to say anything in a chat room :)

      albapatriot 01/08/01

I came up with my internet nickname or ID albapatriot because I am Scottish and a real patriot. Alba is Scots Gaelic meaning Scotland and Patriot, well you all should know what that means.

So you see it was that simple.

      Alert Reader 13 Mar 2000

I am a Dave Barry fan. It was he who conferred on me the title of Alert Reader as he has on many others who correspond with him. We send him clippings and comic strips as well as notes (all by snailmail--he has asked that we do not send him e-mail). His address is:

        The Miami Herald
        One Herald Plaza
        Miami, FL 33132

We fans of Barry are of all ages. I am 67 years old. Many college kids are fans. But, I feel that he is truly the spokesman for the Baby Boomers and I recommend highly that you should read DAVE BARRY TURNS FIFTY if you want to see what I mean.

        Yours truly,
        Irene Spencer

      Ameronth 5/22/01

        To The Gardener,

I came across this interesting little site while surfing around, looking for a good site to find the meanings of names. I wanted to add my own name's story to this thread, but unfortunately the bulletin board it was on appears to be no more. Hence, I am writing to you via email.

My usual online name is Ameronth. I came up with this name while looking through a dictionary for an original and unique name. I came across this word:

amaranth (n.) amˇaˇranth 1. an imaginary, undying flower.

Further searching revealed that this purplish-red flower was a symbol of the Order of the Amaranth:

The Order of the Amaranth is one of the oldest Orders to be affiliated with the Masonic Lodge. During the reign of Queen Christina of Sweden The Order of the Amaranth was established for ladies and Knights of the Royal Court. It was built around the character of Lady Amarantha, who was portrayed as being a beautiful, virtuous and talented Lady of the Court. The name of the Order was probably chosen because of the beautiful, never-fading red Amaranthus flowers growing in profusion in Spain and Portugal. The Order was perpetuated and exists in the Royal Court of Sweden now.

I thought, "What a great name!" I changed the spelling around to make the name my own and to make it look and sound more masculine and I came up with Ameronth. I have never seen this name in use anywhere else, which is what I was aiming for.

So, there you have it. I hope you include this entry in you logs.

        Farewell and Godspeed,

        Ryan

      Anzonejeeg 07-Oct-00

A friend of mine calls me Hansongirl constantly to bug me about a long ago obsession with the band.
His spanish friend Leo can't remember what it is and can barely pronounce it.
And so instead of "hansonchick" it comes out "Anzonejeeg".

      arc_angel 05/03/00

Well, the arc angel part is from this Oprah show I saw. They said that you haven two arch angels watching over you all the time, I'm very religious and I beleive in that. I always try to help my friends and others, like an arch angel. The 9 looks like 19 with the L and 19 is the date of my birthday. I'm put them together (and spelled arch wrong).

      ArColm24601 11 Jan 2000

Hi. My online name is ArColm24601. It comes from this: my initials are A.R. Colm is the first name of a wonderful singer (Colm Wilkensen) who played Jean Valjean in the Broadway production of Les Misérables. The number 24601 is also from Les Misérables. It was Jean Valjean's prison number when he worked on the chain gang for 19 years as his punishment for stealing some bread.

      A_Straywolf_VA 08/01/2002

I chose this ID because I strayed away from my other ID of Skiddlekat, which I entered the chat world with. I then struck out on my own in the music rooms and I thought of using this ID in Straywolf's Den of Music.

      Asgisga 14-Nov-2001

Everyone always makes the mistake about my sign on name Asgisga being hindi or from India and it is not. It is a Cherokee name given to me by a friend and is pronounced: a-skee-ska and it means "one who dreams" or "the dreamer". This name is very special to me because one of the people who gave me this name was killed shortly before it was given to me. He was a full blood Cherokee and with his passing his wife went ahead and honored me by giving me my Cherokee name that they had decided to give to me. The name always fits part of the personality of the person who receives it, so I guess you would say that I am a dreamer and that is why I am who I am on the net.

        Wa-do (thank you in Cherokee)

It's kind of mysterious and sexy. Then I heard a song called Aurora (Foo Fighters) which made me love the name even more.
