"someone stole my nick!", said johmbie 27-Feb-2000

so, I had to use a computer at work to cure my boredom. I log on to yahoo chat thinking I can grab up my normal nick: johmbie (I've used it for 8 years now) and yahoo tells me that there's already someone using that nick. Of course I can't locate the culprit, not that I'd know what to say to them anyway.

So now I have this new alter-nick socrates_dog that I have to get used to. People keep msg'ing me and I don't know it because I'm looking for johmbie. Anyway, I got the nick irl from some soldiers of mine who kept calling me "johmbie" for months. I didn't know if it was good or bad, so of course I did what any good soldier would do and got them drunk enough to admit to it. turned out to be good. You see, johmbie was the genie in the box on pee-wee herman's playhouse that knew everything. These guys knew that I knew everything there was to know about our job (basically fixing tanks) so they started calling me johmbie. Once I learned the true meaning, it stuck. Btw: other names irl include: freeballer, margarita man, and the man.

      Juniper 22-Aug-00

My nickname on-line is Juniper. I got the name from my favorite movie Benny and Joon. It is not the most creative name, but it works for me. :)
