RE: The Naming of Things... (2 Replies) SysCrusher - 06/25/1998 - 07:41:48 P The name SysCrusher... A subtitle to a VERY obscure Neil Young song circa 1982. The album is TRANS, the song was "Computer Cowboy". I'm still not sure what he was getting at in the song, but if you can imagine Neil Young meets DEVO, that's the sound. Neil is a long time favorite... back to the 60's Anyway, I like music, I like computers, and I like the way people have perceived my name... but I'm NOT a hacker. I also liked the fact nobody acknowledged they knew where it came from. As I've stated in other posts... And now you know the rest of the story! page 4! SysCrusher (the music lover... and country IS NOT music, so don't you believe I like IT.) Go ahead... I'm waiting for the flames. :-) |

RE: The Naming of Things... (1 Reply) mab - 06/26/1998 - 09:05:55 A Your name definitely carries an impression! I'm not much of a country fan either...although like pookha, I love Patsy Cline. I also once owned the "9 to 5" soundtrack LP, when I was about 7 or 8, which I played EVERY day REPEATEDLY and I think my parents seriously considered putting me up for adoption... Thanks for your reply, SysCrusher. mab |

Dolly's Hollywood period (0 Replies) pookha - 06/29/1998 - 01:20:41 P Some people seem to consider 9 to 5 to be from Dolly Parton's "Hollywood" period. Sometime listen to "Jolene" or "The Coat of Many Colours" The Coat of Many Colours is probably one the best songs ever written about growing up poor in rural east Tennessee mountains. Dolly is a far better as a songwriter even though she is a good musician. There is an ongoing debate here about how classic country and the artists are neglected for new country. More non-country stations played Johnny Cash's American Recordings than country where it wasn't played at all. |

hear the wild coyotes howl (0 Replies) pookha - 06/25/1998 - 08:38:25 P I was wondering about Trans when I saw the name... most of Trans uses synth except for "a Little thing called love" (that may not be the exact name don't have the album with me) what do you call country?? Harvest comes real close..a sort of folkish country. I can't stand much modern country... Love Patsy Cline. Neil Young has always been a favorite. always liked a story about how some supposed fans went to a NY concert expecting more songs like Harvest.. instead they got roadies dressed as Jawas and kick-butt rock.. it was the Rust Never Sleeps Tour. .............................................................. |
