Worker Caste

RE: The Naming of Things... (2 Replies) Worker Caste - 06/24/1998 - 06:45:09 P

My chosen handle has two levels of meaning. First of all, when I first discovered this board back in November, my only regular internet access was at work, so that is where I did most of my posting. I still do quite a bit of it there (like now, for example).

The second meaning has to do with the perception and development of the Worker Caste. In the beginning we saw them only in the background, and so little that other castes occasionally forgot about them altogether. This is a bit like me, since I used to be very shy and disappear into the background. But now the Worker Caste rules the Grey Council. They have a voice. As do I.

WC

(and the abbreviation I used is a slang term for a toilet, which others may find appropriate for the content of my opinions... ;-)

The Worker Caste would also be the most populous (0 Replies) The Patient Gardener - 06/27/1998 - 11:12:37 A

of the castes. It is fitting that their concerns now have a voice that will be heard.

I always enjoy your posts, Worker Caste, and have always loved the name you chose. To me, it evokes the idea that the worker caste, as you said, is often overlooked. Yet they are the silent builders of cities and ships. Nothing can be manifested on a physical level without them...no lofty idea of the religious or warrior caste can come to fruition without their labor. And yet they are the most unpretentious of the casts.

      Thanks for replying, WC!

OneEye the DRD Worker_Caste - May 31, 2003

Hey, PG, I already posted my reasons back on the original thread ;-) I have a new nick, now, used for my newest fandom, Farscape. There, I am OneEye the DRD, loyal mechanical companion to John Crichton and his friends.

Someone asked me about my handle tonight, which reminded me to come look in on your site and the Naming of Things post. I'm still out here, still using my old nick in some places. Though recently, I married a man who goes by the handle MadCat
