RE: The Naming of things Mab's Golden Thread (3 Replies) Lady Morella - 09/08/1998

Hi, everyone! Introductions first. I am "Lady Morella" here. I usually go by the name "Notorious" on the Internet almost everywhere and you will notice that I still SIGN my posts here that way even though my USERNAME here is "Lady Morella". I have been a B5 fan for about a month and a half now. I've seen the reruns on TNT from the last two episodes of Season Two up through "Epiphanes" and no more. My favourite race is the Centauri; my favourite characters are Londo, Vir, Lennier, and the OLD Garibaldi.

And I am a 23 year-old female. If you bump into me on the Warner Bros. Babylon 5 message boards, I go by two names there: "Keela Shanri", a character for the B5 universe that I made up myself, and "Emperor Cartagia", registered when I was in an evil mood...(when I'm posting as him I tend to post in character, which is fun, you know, complain about how you can't get GOOD "pain technicians" these days, etc.)

My names aren't anything special. I have TONS of them, but usually all they are is me naming myself after a character that I either liked or who's name I thought sounded neat, nothing really deep.

If you're into B5 as I assume everyone here is, it's kinda obvious who "Lady Morella" is! I just picked her 'cos:

a. I like the Centauri and she's an obscure enough character that I figured the name might still be available. You guys are all lucky I didn't go with my first choice--Emperor Cartagia! NOT because I want to BE like him--GODS no--but because he was such a wonderfully FLAMBOUYANT villain. The main reason I chose not to go with that name is not because I wanted to avoid being thought of as evil, but rather because having a male name while being female would make people think I was a little weird or something...

b. Back to Lady Morella--I have kinda had flashes of "foresight" in my life before that I couldn't explain, little things like knowing what someone is going to say before they say it, etc, so I guess a seeress sorta makes sense.

c. I've been a Star Trek fan since birth and I've seen Majel Barrett in SO many roles in the ST universe, plus I've MET her and she is ONE COOL LADY, so I guess I chose the name 'cos I like the actress.

d. The "Lady" title sounds cool. :)

e. I like the idea of a mysterious noblewoman who not only is extremely respected and wealthy and powerful and all that but ALSO has mysterious powers that freak people out. :)

But mainly I was just looking for an obscure Centauri. :)

I have a TON of other pseudonyms but I don't use them HERE so I won't go into them. But they're practically all either named after stuff or from characters that I made up in my stories and/or role-playing games.

P.S. Am I always this talky? Abso...posi...oh, you, BETCHA!
(You THOUGHT I was gonna say "Absofragginglutely, dammit!" didn't you? Admit it!) ;)

BR<> I SWEAR to you that was a real dream!
Also, the other day while watching "Laverne and Shirley" on Nick at Nite (go ahead and laugh at me...) I saw this one guy, a guest star character, and something about him just STRUCK me as not only being someone who would be on B5, but that if he was, he would be a Centauri. No, he didn't have weird hair, especially fuzzy eyebrows or sharp teeth, he looked human...just something about his expression or the way he was standing, or SOMETHING...
Turns out, after I looked up the actor's name, that he WAS on Babylon 5, and he played Lord Kiro! But get this--I HAVE NOT SEEN THAT EPISODE! I SWEAR this is all true. Weird, innit? :)

I'm either psychic--or I should be a casting director! :)

P.S. Did ya see the thing about who REALLY caused disco on the humour board? :)

Always room for one more flambouyant character. (1 Replies) - tOM - 09/08/1998 - 12:50:06 P

Did you meet Majel Barrett at a Con or was she standing in the checkout line next to you?

At a convention. In 1989. Michael Dorn of Next Gen/DS9 was there, too. (And you should have heard him recite Klingon love poetry, he is one funny guy. We also bumped into him at the hotel restaurant later that day.)

I heard her speak and she was very funny. She whipped out her own personal copy of the NEXT GENERATION blooper reels, which at that time were very rare and not on the semi-black market yet. :) So we were among the very first to see them. She was very funny and witty; it was like meeting Lwaxana Troi. :)

Oh, and I also got her autograph--she signed "To Tiffany: Welcome to the 24th century!" I thought that was cute.

mab's Naming of Things (0 Replies) Keela_Shanri from The Warner Bros. Boards - 12-22-98 11:57 PM PT

I have a GAZILLION on-line names that I chose from for different occasions and different settings, but as for my B5 online names? Lady Keela Shanri and Ranger/Lord Lufa Caldoni are my own characters, you can read about their FULL histories, if you really want to, here:

The Purple Files

http://www.oocities.org/Area51/Stargate/2274/characters.html

and the other name I use here, Emperor Cartagia, I chose simply because he was my favourite villian from the show.
