RE: The Naming of Things... (2 Replies) tOM - 06/26/1998 - 08:53:39 A Well, if it's not to late to jump in... This is actually my name. It's just that I touch type (badly) and when I went to enter my 'nick' for my first post to the board I missed the SHIFT and hit the CAPS LOCK. So it came out tOM. Someone speculated that it stood for 'the Old Man.' I'm flattered and chagrinned at the same time. Flattered because 'the Old Man' is usually used for the commanding officer of a military unit or a naval vessel. Having known several of these people, I would be flattered to be included in their number. Chagrinned because the operative word here is 'old.' I'm not old enough yet to be 'old.' I'm just well aged, fully ripe, nearing maturity... |
