Melon Field And Plum Orchard (¥Ê¥Ð§õ¤U) | ||||||||||||

February 15, 2003
Dear Richard, Last week, I told you a story saying that people could easily make mistake by what they saw. In real life, this was not unusual and did happen everyday. If you want to be a good kid, not only you should stay away from the wrongdoing but also should stay away from situations that can cause a wrong impression on you. People might not be able to rectify their wrong impression on you for years or sometimes forever. In China, during the harvest season, farmers were very alert for any strangers walking by their fields. They were afraid of their produce being stolen. One day, a young man went to visit his aunt who was living in a village. When he was crossing a melon field, he found his pair of new shoes uncomfortable. He then kneeled down to fix his shoes. Within minutes, there were four to five angry farmers running towards him thinking that he was stealing melons. The young man had no chance to explain and kept running. He ran and ran. Not knowing how long he had run, he escaped to a plum orchard. In there, he found his hat loose. When he was about to raise his hand to fix it, the orchard farmers thought that he stole the plums and dashed after him. This time, he was not that lucky. He was caught and brought to the local police. The melon farmers also accused him stealing. He explained but the police didn't believe him. Unfortunately, he was put in jail even he hadn't done anything wrong on purpose. With love, Dad |
