FRANKLIN HIPP DIES SUDDENLY
Prominent Mecklenburg Man Succumbs at His Home; Funeral to be Today
Franklin Monroe Hipp, retired farmer, a lifelong resident of Mecklenburg county, died suddenly at 5:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon at his home in the Moore's Chapel community. He had been in declining health the last two years.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 o'clock this afternoon at Moore's Methodist chapel by Rev. W. B. Davis, the pastor, who will be assisted by Rev. Frank S. Johnston, pastor of Paw Creek Presbyterian church.
Active pallbearers will be Harold Hipp, Harvey Hipp, Joe Hipp, Dwight Price, Clyde Morrow, and James Howard Ivey, all grandsons of Mr. Hipp. Stewards and trustees of Moore's chapel will be honorary pallbearers.
A son of the late J. F. Hipp and Margaret Hipp, Mr. Hipp was born June 12, 1866. He had been active in civic and social affairs throughout the years. He was a member of Moore's chapel, served many years as a member of its board of stewards and was a trustee of the church at the time of his death.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Violet Hoover Hipp; a son, Rev. Jesse E. Hipp; three daughters, Mrs. Austin Price, Mrs. G. R. Summerville and Miss Bertha Hipp, all of the Moore's chapel section; a brother, John W. Hipp of Route 5 Charlotte; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
