He never married, and continued to live at the family homeplace.

Obituary from "The Charlotte Observer", September 19, 1986
Mr. J. Arthur "Skinney" Love, 92, of Rt. 14, Charlotte, died Sept. 19, 1986, at Mercy Hospital of a lung ailment. Funeral is at 11 a.m. Monday at Paw Creek Presbyterian Church, where he was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery. McEwen Funeral Home, Charlotte chapel, is in charge.
Mr. Love was a retired poultry farmer and a native of Mecklenburg County. He was an Army veteran of World War I, serving with the 30th Division.
Survivors are his brother, Avery Love; sisters, Mrs. Ida Hall of North Myrtle Beach, Mrs. Eunice Sisk.
Memorials can be made to West Mecklenburg Rescue Squad, Paw Creek, NC, 28130. Visitation is 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at McEwen Charlotte chapel. The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Love, 10529 Moores Chapel Rd.
