Mr. Parks Poteat, 67, of 3426 Bernard St., died Friday. Funeral plans
are incomplete. McEwen is in charge.

Death notice from "The Charlotte Observer," Sunday, April 25, 1982:
Mr. Parks "Lonnie" Poteat, 67, of 3426 Bernard Ave., retired master
sergeant, died Friday. Funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday at McEwen Funeral Home.
Survivors are daughter, Mrs. Barbara Nelson; brother, Brooks Poteat
of Eden; sisters, Mrs. Ethel Williams, Mrs. Alma Love.

Obituary from "The Charlotte Observer, Monday, April 26, 1982:
MR. PARKS HAROLD POTEAT
Mr. Parks "Lonnie" Poteat, age 67, of 4326 Benard [sic] Street,
Charlotte, died Friday, April 23, 1982, in Venice, FL. Mr. Poteat was
born June 8 (sic), 1914 in Mecklenburg County, son of the late Edward
Jones [sic] and Mary Flovetta [sic] Orr Poteat. He retired from the
United States Air Force as a Master Sgt. after 24 years in the armed
forces. Funeral services will be 2 PM Tuesday, April 27, in the McEwen
West Chapel with the Rev. Erman F. Bradley, pastor of the Homestead
United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the
Evergreen City Cemetery. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Barbara
Ann Nelson of Charlotte; five grandchildren, Mitch Nelson of Chattanooga,
TN, David Nelson of Knoxville, TN, Jeff McClain of Ohio, Mrs. Donna Ann
Jackson and Mrs. Linda Skeen, both of Charlotte; one great-grandchild,
Chad Skeen of Charlotte; one brother, Brooks Poteat of Eden, NC; two
sisters, Mrs. Ethel Williams and Mrs. Alma Love, both of Charlotte. The
family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 until 8:30 PM at the
