Thomas and his wife Mary moved to Texas. [Brøderbund WFT Vol. 2, Ed. 1, Tree #4900, Date of Import: Aug 8, 1996]

"Ira Patterson was joined in Demopolis, Marengo Co., Alabama by his youngest brother, Thomas Thompson Patterson. Thomas married in Marengo, 1843-4 (the marriage bond is undated) Mary A. Pickens; he appears in the 1850 census, Marengo Co., as Thompson Patterson, 43, b. NC with wife Mary A., children Robert P., 5, John C., 3, and Francisco, 1. Before August 1852, Thomas had gone to Texas, a letter of Lucretia Jane's of that date stating 'We had a letter from Thomas last week. He is well pleased with Texas.'" [by Mary W.
