Notes for Daniel Clary

"Daniel Clary, son of William Donovan Clary, was born in Maryland in 1750 and died August 9, 1795 in Rowan County, North Carolina. Daniel may have been the first Maryland Clary to migrate to Rowan County; he paid tax there in 1768, when he would have been 18. At first Daniel lived in Salisbury, buying half a lot number 6 on Corbin Street in that town in 1769 at a price of 100 pounds. In 1778, Daniel bought 200 acres of Rowan County land along Mirey Creek adjoining the land his brother John purchased the same day. He was married twice. His first wife's name is unknown. He married his second wife on November 6, 1786, Sarah Combs Nesbit. She was born in Maryland in 1762 and died in Alexander County in 1854." [by James H. Sharpe, Jr. of Hiddenite, NC - his sources are family members, census records and Ralph Shearer Rowland & Star Wilson Rowland, Clary Genealogy - Four Early American Lines and Related Families.]
