Notes for Washington L. Hoover

Enlisted in CSA at age 33 on July 7, 1862. Mustered as Corporal. Present or accounted for until discharge prior to November 1, 1862 upon presenting James R. McDonald as his substitute.

Obituary from "The Charlotte Observer," March 30, 1904
After an illness of a month, Mr. W. L. Hoover, aged 74 years, died last night at 9:20 o'clock, at his home in Berryhill township, 7 miles from the city. Mr. Hoover had been twice married, and is survived by his second wife and six children. These are: Mrs. J. W. Dunn, Mrs. Richard Stewart, Mrs. Harry C. Stewart, Mr. J. A. Hoover, Mr. Esley P. Hoover, all of this county, and Mr. J. W. Hoover, of Jacksonville, Fla. The funeral service will take place this afternoon at 3 o'clock at Paw Creek Presbyterian church, and will be conducted by Rev. G. L. Cook, assisted by Rev. O. P. Sample.
