Notes for Mary S. Love

Mary S. "Polly" Love is the probable daughter of David Love and Jean
Thompson of Paw Creek, but this is not proven.

It appears probable that Mary "Polly" Todd nee Love was left a widow
when her husband died before 1850. Her husband was probably the Robert
A. Todd who died in 1847 and was buried at Paw Creek Presbyterian
Church. I have not found an estate for him in Mecklenburg County.
In 1850, Mary appears to reside as head of household with a son,
George and three daughters, Sarah, Mary and Adeline. It also appears
that John W. Todd of the same household but another family listing, is
her son, with a wife Adeline and a son Allison.
In 1860, Mary S. Todd, widow, resides as head of household with her
son, John, who appears himself to be a widower. Daughter Martha age 16
is probably daughter Adeline who was age 6 in 1850. The children William
Todd age 12 and Mary Todd age 9 are children of John W. Todd. William
was listed as Allison in 1850. His cemetery marker at Paw Creek
Presbyterian Church lists him as William A. Todd.
In 1860, David L. Love, her nephew, resides with a neighbor of Mary
S. Todd.
In 1870, Mary S. Todd resides with her son John W. Todd.
In 1880, Mary S. Todd is 75 years old, and resides with her son John
W. Todd, just a few houses away from her brother, Joseph T. Love.
