Last Will and Testament of Margaret Allen Cathey:
In the name of God Amen, I, Margaret Cathey, of Mecklenburg County, being
weak in body but sound in mind and memory, being sensible that it is
appointed for all men once to die, I dispose of my worldly substance that
God has blessed me with as follows:
1st. I will and bequeath to my son Robert F. Cathey, one feather bed and
the curtains belonging to the bed, one bedstead, one quilt, one blanket,
coverlit, one sheet, one walnut cupboard, one walnut table, also all my
interest in a mare Stocking and a young colt.
2nd. I will and bequeath to my granddaughter Margaret Cathey one side
saddle.
3rd. I will and bequeath to my daughter Margaret Lees one feather bed,
one quilt, one sheet, one blanket, and one bedstead.
4th. I will and bequeath to my daughter Francis Fite one flax wheel and
my spectacles.
5th. I will and bequeath to my grand daughter Jane Caroline Cathey one
white counterpin.
6th. I will and bequeath to my daughter in law Lucinda Cathey one cheek
reel.
It is my desire that my wearing apparel be divided out by my daughter
Francis Fite as she thinks proper and fit and I further will that all the
unwilled property belonging to me be sold by my Executor to pay off my
debts, all the above willed property is willed respectively to them and
their heirs forever.
I hereby nominate and appoint Robert F. Cathey the Executor of this my
last Will and Testament.
Signed, sealed, and delivered in presence of us who sign in the presence
of each other March 25, 1842.
