Mecklenburg County Deed Book Volume 4, Pp. 726-727: 14 Oct 1768 - John
Allen & wf Agness of Mecklenburg to Henry Mitchell of same, for £20
proclamation money, 297 acres on both sides of Back Creek, and subdivided
from McCulloh's south east Barony in Tract #4, granted to John Allen by
deed from H. E. McCulloch 3 May 1765...John Allen {seal}, Agnes Allen (x)
{seal}. Witnesses: Isaac Harland, Robert Harris, James Alcorn. Recorded
during October Term 1768.

Will of John Allen of Mecklenburg County, being weak in body...to Agness
Allen my dearly beloved wife, the one third of all my moveable estate and
her maintenance on the land during her natural life; to Mary Osburn my
beloved daughter, s 20; to Hannah Orr, my beloved daughter, s 20; to
Catherine Allen, my beloved daughter one horse, saddle, two beds &
bedding, two cows & calves, £23; to my beloved son John Allen, all that
part of my plantation on which I now live, land near the School house,
adj. Hezekiah Alexanders; to George Allen my beloved son, all that
plantation on McMichaels creek; to William Sample Allen, my beloved son,
the remainder of my land, and that his mother have her living off the
same; my four youngest daughters Mildredge Allen, Agness Allen, Margaret
Allen, Sarah Allen; if any should die before 20 years, divided among his
surviving brothers...wife Agness, my son John Allen, and James Osborn, my
son in law, exrs. 23 Feb 1778

A settlement of the Estate of John Allen deceased Returned by the
Executrix Agness Allen. 1778.

The Last Will and Testament of John Allen deceased was proven in open
Court by the oath Hezekiah Alexander and Evidence thereto - nominating
Agness Allen, John Allen & James Osborn Executrix and Executors - the
Executrix sworn. Ordered that Letters Testamentary issue to the
Executrix. 15 Apr 1778 Court Minutes.
