According to Charles William Sommerville, Ph.D., D.D., a minister at
Hopewell Presbyterian Church and author of "The History of Hopewell
Presbyterian Church," William Sample located in the Sugaw Creek
Presbyterian Church congregation about 1760. He married John McKnitt
Alexander's half-sister, Elizabeth Alexander. "Late in life" he moved
into the community at Hopewell Presbyterian Church.
