Notes for Agnes Sample

Agnes Sample may not be a daughter of William Sample - she is not named
in his estate. However, William Sample's son-in-law, Hezekiah Alexander,
gave oath in Court proving the will of Agnes' husband, John Allen.
Hezekiah Alexander also witnessed the will of Agnes Allen. Agnes and
John named a son William Sample Allen. Daughter Margaret Allen who
married Alexander Cathey named a son William Sample Cathey.

Agnes Allen was listed as the head of household in the 1790 census of
Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.

A settlement of the Estate of John Allen deceased Returned by the
Executrix Agnes Allen.
The Last Will and Testament of John Allen deceased was proven in
open Court by the oath Hezekiah Alexander an Evidence thereto -
nominating Agnes Allen, John Allen & James Osborn Executrix & Executors -
the Executrix sworn. Ordered that Letters Testamentary issue to the
Executrix.

Will of Agness Allen of Mecklenburg County, being weak in body...to Mary
Osborn my beloved Daughter one Dollar and one Book the whole duty of man;
to James (Osborne?), my son in law, One Dollar and to his daughter Agness
one feather bed and one womans sadle at the time she arrives to the age
of 14 years; to Catherine Stewart my beloved daughter One Dollar & one
book 1st Vol. Henry; to Mildridge Wallace my beloved daughter one dollar
& one book Exhibited mans companion; to Agnes Cathey my beloved daughter
one Dollar & one book Wilson on the Sacraments; my Martha Cathey my
beloved daughter one mare and one book 2nd Vol. Harvies Lecturs (?)
Letters (?); to George Allen my beloved son one dollar and one book Lamps
works; to Sarah Allen my beloved daughter one feather bed & furniture &
her chest, table, spinnig wheel, etc., Psalms & Hyms and her Bible and
Negro girl Lucy; to William Sample Allen my beloved son one good feather
bed & furniture, one mare, saddle & bridle, his fathers desk and table,
negro boy Tom and £ 30: in case my son William should die before he
arives at full age, then his share should be equally divided among the
surviving children; books (named) to son William S. Allen; John Stewart
stands indebted to me, all he owes should be forgiven; James Osborn my
son in law and George Allen, exrs. 2 Sept 1790.
