William Farrar, IV was the last Farrar to own land on Farrar's Island in
Henrico County, Virginia. The holdings consisted of 686 acres of land on
the north side of the James River. He sold it to Thomas Randolph on 26
January 1727. The Randolph family was wealthy and had much political
power, and bought the Farrar land from the descendants who inherited it.
