Was a member of Union Presbyterian Church, where he was an Elder and served many years as Clerk of the Session. Pastors were Rev. Angus McCallum, a native of Robeson County, and Rev. Samuel Paisley.
Lived on southeast side of what is now U.S. Highway 15-501 about a mile south of White Hill Church.

His family Bible gives the dates of some members of his family.
