Notes:
In a letter written on Jan 24th 1950 to Robert Howell of Virginia, son of Thomas Howell Jr, Celia Annie Howell of Canada wrote, "There was another Miss Allen married to a missionary in Jamaica, while she was home on furlough the husband perished they lost all their belongings in a dredful (sic) hurricane. She never returned to Jamaica but was also living with old Mrs. Allen."

Edward Jesse Hewett was Pastor at Mount Carey Baptist Church in St. James, Jamaica. He was the son of Edward Hewett and Esthrana Louisa Burchell. His grave at Mount Carey bears this inscription: "In loving memory of Edward Jesse Hewett, died Jan. 9th 1906 aged 52 years. A good minister of Jesus Christ. Burchell Hewett, son of Edward Jesse Hewett and Isabel Allen, was born in 1882 in England and died 04 Sep 1892 in Jamaica.

In 1891, Isabel was enumerated in the household of her parents, and her place of birth was reported as Yeovil, Somerset. She was described as married, but her husband was not enumerated.

Isabel Hewett died 1 August 1941 in the family home, Springmead, Wimborne Road, Poole and left £563 17s 4d. Executor was - Hugh - Retired Laundry Proprietor. [From the research of Bronwen Ellis, 13 April 2008]

Death announcement from "The Gleaner," Kingston, Jamaica, 22 September 1941, page 18:
RECENT DEATH OF MRS. ISABEL HEWETT
The "Baptist Times" (London) says:
"Mrs. Isabel Hewett, who passed away recently at 90 years of age, was the widow of Rev. Edward Jesse Hewett, a former minister of Mount Carey, Jamaica. Mrs. Hewett had resided in Poole for many years. A sister, Mrs. Pickard, lives at Twickenham but still retains an interest in the church as Hillstreet, Poole, where the family were prominent and useful members for two generations."
