"Uncle Roger - I have some letters he wrote to Uncle Bob [his brother Robert Howell.] He never married and was apparently in and out of V. A. hospitals after being gassed in WWI. I never knew him; a copy of his obit is included."

Obituary -
Roger F. Howell
Amherst, Oct. 3 -- Roger F. Howell, 45, a World War veteran, died this morning at 1 o'clock in Columbia, S.C. He was the son of the late Thomas and Alice Howell of New Glasgow.
Mr. Howell is survived by the following brothers and sisters: J. V. Howell, Robert Howell and Mary Howell of New Glasgow; Mrs. J. R. Massie of Charlottesville, and Mrs. Amy Walsh of California.
The funeral service will be held at the Amherst Cemetery Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
