Duplin County. Peacock, William - found dead, 3 Jun 1760, in his cornfield. William Mayo, justice. Jury: Adoniram Treadwell, Richard Herring, Wm Atkinson, Daniel Creamer, William Cromarty, John Treadwell, Isaac (x) Atkeison, Joseph (x) White, Benjamin (x) Blackburn, James Tinker, Robert (x) Rollins, William Vann, Henry Vann, Francis Nelms. Endorsed - "The said William Peacock was Murthered by one of his Negroes Which was Try'd and Condemd. and Burnt at a Stake the Sixth Day of June 1760."
