Will of Mary Jeffress

In the name of God Amen, I Mary Jeffress of Nottoway County being of sound mind and
memory do make and ordain this to be my last will and Testament in manner and form
following Viz.
Item, I will that all my just Debts be paid by my Executors. Item, I give to my daughter
Susanna Walker five pounds, also one equal part of my estate, which I give to her and
her heir forever. Item. I lend to my Daughter Edith Fowlkes one equal part of
my estate except my household furniture during her natural life and after her
decease I will it should be equally divided amongst all my surviving children.
Item, I give to my Son in law Gabriel Fowlkes three Shillings and nothing more, But
to his children Polley G. Fowlkes, Elizabeth Fowlkes, Jane Fowlkes, William I. Fowlkes,
five pounds each, also twenty five pounds which my Son in law Gabriel Fowlkes,
has now in his possession which I give to them and their heirs forever;
Item. I-lend to my Grand daughter Martha C. Hardin one negro Woman and child Hanny, one Colt, Feather bed & Furniture which she has now in possession also Sixty
five pounds during her natural life and after her decease I will it should be
equally divided amongst all her children which I give to them and their heirs
forever, Item. I give to my three Grandchildren Griffin Smith, Polley
W. Smith, and Thomas Filbert twenty Dollars each which I give to them and their
heirs forever. Item, I lend to my Daughter Dicey Jordan one equal part of my estate
during her natural life, and after her decease I will it should be equally divided
amongst all her children which I give to them and their heirs forever. Item.
I give to my Daughter Jiney Wooton five pounds also one equal part of my
estate which I give to her and her heirs forever. Item. I give to my Grand
daughter Mary G. Hamlett one Feather bed and furniture which I give
to her and her heirs forever. Item, I give to my Grand Daughter Polley G.
Jeffress daughter of James Jeffress one Feather bed and Furniture. Item
I give to my three Sons, James, John and Coleman Jeffress one equal part of
my estate each which I give to them and their heirs forever. Item.
I give to my two Sons Thomas & Richard Jeffress one equal part of my estate except
my household Furniture each; which I give to them and their heirs forever,
Item. I give to my Son Elisha Jeffress one equal part of my estate except my
household furniture, Which I give to him and his heirs forever. Item
I do hereby ordain this to be my last will and Testament Revoking all others
heretofore by me made: I do hereby Constitute and appoint my two Sons James,
& John Jeffress Executors to this my last will & Testament, In Witness
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affect my Seal this 5th day of January
Eighteen Hundred & nine.

In Nottoway county court 1st day of February 1810

This last will and testament of Mary Jeffries dec’d. was offered for proof by James Jeffries
one of the executors therein named & was proved by the oaths of three witnesses & ordered to
be recorded. And on the motion of the said executor a certificate is granted him for
obtaining a probate thereof, he having taken the oath of an executor & with security
entered into & acknowledged a bond according to law.
