Notes for Robert RANKIN

[rankin.ged]

This may be the Robert Rankin who married Sarah McCallister in Lincoln
Co., NC on 15 Dec 1800.

Robert Rankin purchased 200 acres of land in Lincoln County from his
brother William on 16 Apr 1801. On 21 Aug 1804, Robert sold the same 200
acres of land to his brother, James. The deed was proved by his brother,
William. It is the last record of Robert Rankin that has been found in
Lincoln Co., NC. Samuel Rankin's will written 16 Dec 1814 mentions 'my
son Robert,' so it is known that Robert was alive in 1814. [A. Gregg
Moore & Forney A. Rankin, The Rankins of North Carolina, (Marietta, GA:
1997), 268.]

Census information indicates that Robert Rankin may have been in
Rutherford Co., Tennessee in 1810 and 1820. Information from possible
descendants indicates that he may have left Tennessee for Illinois.
