PAW CREEK PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH HISTORY (cont.)

The building erected in 1882 was remodeled in the year 1928 during the pastorate of Rev. C. H. Rowan. This included the erection of the Sunday School rooms now to the rear of the church, and a portico, adding greatly to the beauty of the structure, was built to the front of the church. A new floor was laid in the auditorium at a cost of $600.00 and paid for by the Woman's Auxiliary.

The first manse was built about 1893. A second manse, with lights and water, was built in 1922 at a cost of some $4,200.00, providing many modern conveniences for the pastor's family at that time. A third manse was built during the pastorate of Rev. Frank S. Johnston in late 1953 and early 1954 on Sadler Road, approximately 3/4 mile from the church. In December, 1954, the second manse was sold to Thomas Martin Beaty and Ursula S. Beaty for the sum of $6,500.00 and this amount was applied to the new manse.

Through a movement of the young people's organization in 1949 the present Fellow-ship Building was constructed at a cost of approximately $5,000.00. This building is a multi-purpose building for recreation, meetings of church groups, community clubs, church families, and the Sunday School.

A much-needed educational building was constructed during the latter half of 1955 with formal occupancy on March 3, 1956. This building consists of seven class rooms, a chapel seating approximately 80 persons, a library room, two storage rooms, janitor supply room, and three rest rooms, and was constructed at a cost of approximately $49,510.00, including the heating contract. Indebtedness on this building was $40,000.00, plus interest, for a period of ten years.

As far as the records show, Paw Creek has furnished six men to the gospel ministry:
