Searching for Bembix
photo
This is a very hot Sunday morning. We went to Karawatha Wallum Trail again to see if we can have more observations on the Sand Wasp Bembix. We did find one on the Bushtail Trail. It was alone, came out from the nest a few time, get in again minutes later, always with empty hand. Then it get in the nest and did not came out for over an hours. We saw some sand came out from the nest entry so it should be building the cell inside. We waited over an hours and gave up.  Next week we will make a half-day waiting plan there and see if this will come up with a better observation results.

Hi Mr Chew and family,

Just writing a short message to let you know you have on of the greatest insect websites on the web! It's user friendly and you go into great detail without confusing the avergae person with lots of scientific jargon, and you have photographed so many insects. It's much appreciated that you have gone to such an effort. I am studying entomology at my second year of science at uni and I will be visting your webpage alot this year, as I have done for general interest all last year. I left this message under the Sphecidae because it's one of my favourite family of insects, I couldn't find the cicada killer wasp though so if i get the opportunity to photograph one I will definetily email it to you.

Thanks again for such a great web page,

Yours sincerely, Sean . F . Kennedy
