I tried to sign the guestbook and it is saying that it is full and cant allow any more comments. I wanted to say that your site is fantastic. You are doing a great service to mankind by recording and displaying all you have found for others to learn from and be amazed by. Thankyou from our family to yours. hi there, great site. I have been using this site to identify a few caterpillars eating my plants on my deck - hopefully I will be the proud parent of two orchard swallowtails and one painted pine moth. Tried to check out parasites of the orchard swallowtails on your site but nothing happens. Can you check your hyperlink and file?? I am keen to know more so I grow swallowtails and not maggots!

I am a beginning teacher and have to say your website is amazing! It made me so happy to think of your family going into the bush together and learning about all these tiny creatures who are no doubt overlooked on a day to day basis. At the moment I am collecting resources for my future teaching and am sure this site will prove invaluable as a teaching tool (I will contact you for future useage rights...). I'd just like to say what a wonderful idea and what great teachers you must be yourselves! Regards, Ella Griffiths

Hi,

Congratulations on a wonderful and very informative site. I recently found a truly weird creature in our garden, and using your site was able to identify it as the "Striped Raspy Cricket". It was on a passionfruit vine and when I approached to show it to our grandson, it did the warning trick of becoming a spider. We were both entranced at the change it could perform by simply flipping over to display its underside. It also held its front legs in a very spider-like pose, and 'struck' at us as if to bite. What an amazing adaption. --Rosalie <mailto:rosalies@internode.on.net>

Wow, I love this website. Great for identifying insects and spiders. I was wondering how I can get involved in taking insect surveys, protecting endangered species etc.?

I was looking with interest at your pictures and information on Crane Flies. I think I may have crane fly larvae in a makeshift pond (intended to support frogs) in my garden. They are larger than normal mosquito larvae but look similar, also seem to move more slowly. I have read somewhere they may predate on mosquito larvae... is this correct? (Originally the pond had small fish to eat mossie larvae but these died when a flowering tree droppped a lot of debris - I was going to empty the pond but would like to encourage the crane flies. How can I be sure these larvae are not huge mosquitos!?

My only critisism is the language. I realise this is not a professional site but it is presented by an obviously talented family. Perhaps an effort to use correct English would improve the reading - especially as the site is presented in Australia by Australian residents. Regards Margaret

I love your photos. I was finally able to find out the name of the orange butterfly that comes to our yard every year. Apparently it's an orange dart although I'm in Victoria.
