Rosso Teachers' Conference

A one-day teachers' conference was held at the end of January that imitated the conference that took place in Nouakchott in the summer of 2002 concerning the role gender plays in the classroom and various ways this role can be affected and/or changed by the professor and his/her actions. PCVs Jason K., Paul W., and Matt C. organized the day and invited twenty-four (24) lycee teachers: seven (7) each from Rkiz and Mederdra, and ten (10) from Rosso. Also intvited were six (6) representatives from relevant local organizations such as Condition Feminine, the Rosso PTA, the DREF, the Rosso College, and a private school. In addition three lycee age girls from the Rosso GMC attended to provide a students point of view. The conference was intended to be held in French.
