Technical Stuff about The People's Reviews

The bulk of the coding was done in a text editor, initially Notepad on Windows NT Workstation 4.0. Later, I downloaded and used Araneae, an HTML editor that has some macros for auto inserting tags, but I didn't really like it. For FTP, I was using CoffeCup Free FTP, which is a very good FTP client for Windoze, er, Windows based systems.

I've since moved all of my coding over to an OS/2 Warp 4 system, initially using the PM based E editor and the FTP client that ships with OS/2. I wasn't entirely happy, so I started using an FTP client called InterFTP. I found it to be pretty clunky, so I moved to the FTP client I use now, EmTec FTP for OS/2, which I am thoroughly satisfied with.

As far as coding is concerned, I still like to code by hand rather than using a front-end like Netscape Composer or Front Page. I was using an HTML text editor called WebWriter/2, but I found it as clunky as a standard text editor, although it also had auto-insert tag functions. What I'm using currently is called MED, which is a tremendous text editor that highlights tags and certain codes, as well as incorporates macro functions to help me speed up the process of converting reviews. And, by the way, kids, it's available in Windoze, er, Windows (gotta stop doing that! LOL) flavors.

For previewing pages, I use Netscape Communicator 4.61 for OS/2, Web Explorer (the nearly incompetent web browser that ships with OS/2), and Internet Explorer 5.01 for Windows NT.

When I was coding in NT, I used Paint Shop Pro 6.0 for my graphics, but now I use Embellish 2.0 for OS/2, which is every bit as good.

All the aforementioned Windows software can be obtained at TUCOWS (The Ultimate Collection Of Winsock Software) and Download.com, and all OS/2 software can be downloaded at Hobbes Online, except for Embellish which is available at the Dadaware website.
