The Great Planes Dazzler was purchased form Hobbytown USA in Lawrence by Keith late last summer.  It was framed up by Christmas, and completed by early March.
Its wingspan was increased by 2 inches to 50" by spreading out the outer wing ribsand using the spars that came with the kit.  the wing is slid through holes in the fuselage sides and glued in place.  The tail surfaces are built up with no sheeting.  Ready to fly weight is only 4 lbs.
The covering is Goldberg white and back Ultracote with 1999 AMA sticker and Great Planes Aerobatic Team decals. The canopy is painted black on the inside and hides the switch and reciever underneath.
Power is an OS .40sf with a .46fx carb and back plate.  Silencing is provided by a Mac's long header and quiet pipe.  The fuselage with a small modification to the front inside bulkhead holds a Great Planes 8 oz. fuel tank.  This provides plenty of fuel for 10 to 15 minute flights.
The radio used is the Hitec flash 5 system with 5 servos.  The two aileron servos are set up with 5/8" throw each way providing a very crisp roll rate.
While competing at the Jayhawk Model Master funfly last May, the Dazzler managed to barely clip a limbo pole  and shattered the leading edge  of the right wing at the tip.  I guess it just wasn't supposed to have longer wings :-)
Keith won the Top Pilot Award at the Franklin County Flyers Funfly  with this airplane by taking first place in Rock and Roll and Second in the Flameout.
The Dazzler is capable of vertical take offs and will also fly at a crawl even inverted with no tendency to tip stall.  It is also small enough to be easily transported to the flying field and is great fun to fly.
