Globes - November 8, 2000

Sweet, succulent globes
of firm flesh
that beckon
for the bite
that leaves them
glistening in the sunlight.

Each nibble reveals
a crimson wine stain
against dark skin
that draws
the sweet juice
once more.

Each globe becomes
an experience on their own,
as eyes watch
the shrinking number of
grapes
on the vine
