How do you mourn the loss
of someone you've always had?
How do you mourn the passing
of someone when you can't stop
the sorrow
that leaves you empty;
the sadness
that consumes you;
and hopelessness
that surrounds you.
When does loss leave you?
When does love stay the same?
When do you leave the sadness behind
when you sift at the memories,
for they are all that you have left.
Time is the only thing that passes quickly,
blurring our past as it fades,
it dulls the pain,
and bleeds away the sharp colors
that painted our lives.
